Headquarters

The headquarters of Fondazione Fiera Milano are in Milan, Largo Domodossola 1, once the original “gateway” to the former Fiera di Milano (Milan Fair). The twin Liberty-style buildings, called “Palazzine degli Orafi” because they hosted  the gold exhibits section of the broad-spectrum Trade Fair (Campionaria) starting with the 1923 Exhibition,  were maintained and restored to house the offices of Fondazione (and its subsidiary SSF).

The original structure of the buildings, which are protected by the Monuments and Fine Arts Office as part of the historical heritage, consists of a central curved body with two straight wings that were given a complete makeover and whose interior and layout were totally revamped. The existing structures were also reinforced, made to comply with safety codes, and updated with new technological systems. Most importantly however, a glass cladding that is visible from the outside confers transparency and lightness to the original structure without altering its original features and houses the offices and a large, main hall. The surrounding area and entrance were also maintained and reorganized using a new prospective axis that highlights the historical facade of the buildings with a plaza adorned with flowerbeds and walkways.
