Fondazione FieraMilano and Agip sign the preliminary contract for the purchase of the Rho-Pero area.

15 November 2001

Call for tenders for the construction of Fiera’s new exhibition complex is published.

21 December 2001

Five major international groups express their interest in the tender for the new exhibition complex.

15 January 2002
The groups are selected and a call for tenders is published for the construction project of the new Fiera premises.

3 July 2002

The temporary ranking of the tender for the new complex is made known.

26 July 2002

Astaldi wins the tender at the helm of a consortium that includes Vianini Lavori and Impresa Pizzarotti&C. The project is by Massimiliano Fuksas.

2 August 2002

The contract is signed by Sviluppo Sistema Fiera and the general contractor Astaldi, later to become the NPF - Nuovo Polo Fieristico.

6 October 2002

The first stone of the new FieraMilano complex is laid at Rho-Pero.

3 February 2003

A memorandum of understanding on safety in the construction site is signed by Sviluppo Sistema Fiera, the trade unions and the trade associations.

6 May 2003

Visit by Italy’s President, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi. The first pillars of the new complex are erected.

31 March 2005
The new FieraMilano exhibition complex is inaugurated; Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi cuts the ribbon in front of an audience of 700 people.

2 April 2005

The new exhibition complex opens its doors to the public. Attendance at the events is open to everyone on this day.

23 October 2006
Fieramilano wins the International ULI Global Award 2006 for excellence in architecture.

11 April 2007

The new exhibition complex wins the prestigious 2007 International Architecture Award, organized by the Chicago Athenaeum, an international architecture and design museum based in Chicago.
