Gary Shapiro is president and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) the U.S. trade association representing more than 2,200 consumer technology companies (80 percent are small businesses and startups; others are among the world’s best known brands); CTA represents an industry whose value amounts to $292 billion U.S.

CTA owns and produces CES – The Global Stage for Innovation, the world's gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. It has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies for 50 years-the global stage where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace.

Shapiro authored CTA’s New York Times best-sellers, “Ninja Innovation: The Ten Killer Strategies of the World’s Most Successful Businesses” (Harper Collins, 2013) and “The Comeback: How Innovation will Restore the American Dream” (Beaufort, 2011). As a columnist has written more than 800 opinion pieces for The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and The Washington Post. In 2015 and 2016 the political journalism newspaper The Hill named Shapiro “one of the most influential lobbyists” in Washington; he is considered an “influencer” on LinkedIn and has more than 240,000 followers.
